Book our Vineyard Tour and Vertical Tasting Matched with Artisan Cheeses

If you're looking for a hosted wine tour in Martinborough that not only lets you taste fine wine but also informs and entertains you with great stories about winemaking, you will love our vineyard and winery tour..

An in-depth look at how fine wine is produced. You will have the opportunity to discuss and explore as we follow the story of wine from the vineyard to the winery, and finally to the Cellar Door.

It doesn't matter whether you are new to wine tasting or experienced, we will answer all your questions and cater for your interests. Enjoy a relaxing stroll round the vines and explore the mystery of winemaking with the Winemaker.

Start at the very beginning
Starting in the vineyard, we look at the unique soil profile and macro climate of the Brodie Estate Vineyard. It depends on the season as to what you will experience but it can include examining how the vines are pruned and the canopy is managed to produce optimum fruit quality and even tasting the grapes (March/April), before they are handpicked and transported to the winery.

In the winery
In the winery we look at the differences in white wine and red wine production. In April, tip a bin of grapes into our basket press and perhaps even try the juice as it is slowly and gently squeezed from the berries.
You may even get to plunge some red grape skins into their ferment. Generally feet are not needed in our winery.

Into the Barrel Room
We explore the barrel room where all of our red wines are aged in Gillet French oak barrels. Taste our red wines in the barrel and discover the differences of new and old French oak, and their influence on wine flavour, texture and development.

Concluding the tour in the tasting room
Your tour concludes in the tasting room where we will provide you with a flight of wines and a platter of matched cheeses. You can rate the wines and the cheese matches yourself and later make any wine purchases at the Cellar Door and join our Wine Club with its many benefits for members.
